SystemOne, CDC and ASLM Electronic Proficiency Testing Platform (ePT) Now Used in over 900 Laboratories & Testing Sites in 24 Countries

System One - Disease Intelligence. At The Speed of Now.

New applications and connectivity reduces process from 4-6 week to near realtime

Springfield, MA and Johannesburg, South Africa – January 10, 2019 -  SystemOne announces that its enhanced Electronic Proficiency Testing Platform (ePT), built in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC - Atlanta, USA) and the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) to support the global Dried Tube Specimen (DTS) program offered by the CDC is now being used in 24 countries and 900 testing sites.

SystemOne was engaged, through the ASLM, to expand the existing ePT platform which provided an online mechanism for the submission of HIV results. The expansion adds the ability to test TB samples, as well as automated analysis and reporting of the CDC DTS samples. The current evaluation process for the DTS program took around 4-6 weeks to complete, via a manual process.

Currently, the CDC provides DTS TB samples to laboratories around the world for proficiency testing on the GeneXpert. SystemOne’s ePT platform automates both the analysis and reporting process. In addition to the software platform and connectivity, SystemOne has developed a mobile application to allow participants to be notified of new panels, submit their results and access results in an intuitive, user-friendly manner. The initial pilot for the extended ePT platform and the mobile application took place in Botswana, Nigeria and Namibia.

“This work was a natural fit given our experience with connectivity for disease intelligence and rapid detection and response, combined with our history of working with GeneXperts in over 40 countries,” said Chris Macek, CEO, SystemOne. “When data can move faster than disease, humanity wins. Making sure ePT data move quickly and accurately is important to ensuring quality as complex diagnostic devices get deployed worldwide.”
